I want to be a student-farmer under a seasoned professional who can bestow their wisdom on me.
I'm a herbalist with a certificate in plant based nutrition, but I want to become better versed in horticulture, botany and farming. I'd like the experience that comes from being hands on instead of being in a classroom setting. I want to be a student-farmer under a seasoned professional who can bestow their wisdom on me.
I'm part of a collective of people who all have similar agricultural interests, there's 3 other people in this group at the moment.
We own a 14 acre farm in Clarington Ontario, but only livestock is being managed there at the moment (chickens, turkeys, ducks, and 3 horses). Our farming IQ needs to be increased, and I am one of the main people in our group who wants to hit the ground running and learn from someone more experienced. One of my visions for the future is to create a sprouting facility on the farm for the production of micro greens.
Relationship with farm owner
I want to learn more about the day to day routine of a farmer and the seasonal requirements needed to prepare and produce effectively. Growing and the ideal conditions for success, harvesting and storing procedures are all of interest to me. Learning from someone more experienced will minimize my own mistakes.
