Farm description
I'm looking for a partner to farm a 5 acre land in Richmond. The land is newly cleared and I intend to get organic certification. I'm also open to leasing out the whole land but the farmer must be committed to obtaining organic certification.
Farm opportunity
Being in the middle of Richmond, the land has excellent market access. The land has never been farmed and just recently cleared. This is a good opportunity to ger organic certification. The soil is acidic bog soil, perfect for blueberry as proven by the abundance of blueberry farms around. I'm open to all types of crops as long as they can grow here without too much amendments, as well as livestock. Beekeeping can be a good sideline business due to the blueberry farms around. The land is flat and there is drainage issue during the rain season, which can be mitigated by building raised beds. City water hook up is done and a brand new green house is ready to be installed. I've been learning permaculture and would like to apply that, beyond the organic label (which is good for business).
