Farm description
Neighbourly Farm is growing! This ecological farm-based village near Dornoch in Grey County is ready to add one or two more households in 2025. We can offer secure land access and year-round, independent, affordable housing in a village setting for an ecological farmer, craftsperson or food-based entrepreneur looking to build a business in areas such as: Baking Beekeeping Butchery Fermented foods Flowers and small fruits Herbalism Market Gardening Mushroom cultivation Woodworking Other food or ag-related or land-based enterprises – bring us your proposals! Note, there is no room for another livestock enterprise. And we are unfortunately unable to accommodate homesteaders, weekend farmers, or semi-retired individuals at this time. The land is 228 acres of fields, hedgerows, forests, a spring-fed pond and a creek, all backing onto Mountain Lake wetland. Outbuildings include large-scale barns and workshops, former dairy, sugar shack, studio spaces and more. In 2025, we have housing for 4-5 separate households. Your current neighbours on the land include Johann and Magda Kleinsasser, well-known elders in the ecological farming community who ran Whole Circle Farm near Guelph for many years. Christian and Ally, first-generation farmers, have established Rich Pastures Farm on the property (richpasturesfarm.ca), a mixed regenerative livestock operation consisting of cattle, pigs, and chickens. And we recently welcomed Maxine, an experienced farm worker who is now running her own market garden.
