Farm description

We want to mentor and give a hand up to the next generation of regenerative farmers, create a multi-year plan to effectively and conscientiously steward more of our land, increase the number of product lines produced, and, over the next 10 years, develop a succession plan. We are an older (not old yet, but working on it!) Christian couple who have hosted WWOOFers on our farm for about 8 years. We love it but would prefer to use our energies to assist young aspiring regenerative farmers, with a view to succession planning for the right people. On our 400+ acre land we currently raise certified organic forest raised heritage pigs, certified organic pastured chicken, pastured sheep as well as a small mixed fruit, berry and nut orchard. We follow the methods of Polyface Farm, using intensive rotational grazing of our animals in an environment as closely suited to the species as possible. We have WAAAAY more demand for our products than we can supply! Our land has forests, fields (some developed and some overgrown), ponds and a creek but is not suited to cropping. Farm opportunity

The end goal for us would be to find a person/family/couple who would develop their own agricultural business on our land under a defined long term lease program - timeline to be agreed upon. Lease would probably involve some sweat equity or a bit of produce rather than cash. We're flexible! Within the next 10 years we would like to move towards a succession plan. We hope by the time we run out of energy we will have found the right person / family to carry on stewardship of the land. Preference given to someone with a business plan and an off-farm source of income while they establish their business. We own two houses on the land which are currently rented. A farm partner would have first opportunity if one became available. For the right person during summer we could provide room and board in our house instead of booking WWOOFers. A trailer or tiny house is another option for housing. We are not offering a paid position, just a chance to develop your own business. Come for a visit, check us out, throw some ideas around.
