Farm description

We have approximately 400 acres of land (most of it bush and rocks) that we have stewarded under organic certification since 2014. Our specialty is pasture/forest raised animals. We use regenerative agriculture methods to raise our pigs, meat chicken, laying hens and sheep. Stewarding the land and animals along with providing the best, most nutritionally dense food possible to our loyal customers is our God-given calling and we are very serious about it. You can learn more about our farm at www.amanfarms.ca

Farm opportunity

Approximately 10 years ago we started planting 1/2 acre of fruit and nut trees: pears, asian pears, plums, plumcots, apples, table grapes, black rasperries, seaberries, hazelnuts and heartnuts. The orchard has been certified organic since 2014. Adjacent to the orchard is a one acre (approximately) field where we have pastured meat chicken in the past. The soil is deep and very fertile from the chicken pasturing. So far we have had a lot of blossoms but not much fruit from the orchard. I'm sure this is due to our total hands-off approach (the animals always seem more important!). We would like to do a long term lease on this land to someone who would take over the orchard and adjacent field to operate a market garden business. Foraging, mushroom growing, medicinal herbs (not cannibis), beehives, etc would also be a great idea and compliment what we are already doing. There is a pond and a creek that runs through our property which could be accessed for water. The organic farmers' market in Ottawa where we sell our products is actively looking for an organic vegetable and fruit producer. For the perfect person/couple/family we would consider a rent-to-own plan or succession planning. Smiths Falls, a town 30 minutes away, has a food hub where they rent cold storage, vegetable scrubbers, dehydrators, etc. We do have some processing space/equipment on site. Summer time housing in our house is possible for a single or couple. Camper or tiny house could be accomodated too. On our 400 + acres there are lots of opportunities available. Contact us and let's start a discussion of your business plans.
