Farm description
Family Earth is a startup social enterprise that helps families heal their relationships with the natural world. We facilitate outdoor experiences that build the capacities of families to mitigate and adapt to climate change. We are working on installing infrastructure on our land, including a large market garden style vegetable garden, permaculture gardens/food forest, camp fire dinner experiences, picnics and eventually overnight family stays. We have over 30 acres of varied land to care to, including forest, meadows and a pond.
Farm opportunity
We are hiring a Grounds and Facilities Caretaker: Responsibilities: o Maintain facilities and grounds and perform light forestry, landscaping and gardening work o Maintain and assist in constructing basic outdoor structures and furniture o Participate in designing and building outdoor play and learning spaces o Assist with landscaping, ecosystem regeneration, campfire and carpentry workshops o Assist with the procurement of tools and materials o Maintain tools and manage inventory of workshop materials o Orient and provide assistance to guests o Collaborate with and support other team members and perform other duties as required including preparation and distribution of food boxes and cleaning o Adhere to health and safety practices and covid safety protocols Skills and Orientation: o Basic carpentry and woodworking skills and desire to build these skills further o Organizational, time management and attention to detail o Customer service and problem-solving skills o Able to work independently and with a team o Flexible and adaptable o Excellent rapport with people of all ages, especially children o Loves spending time outdoors and is concerned about the environment o Emergency First Aid Certificate o Wilderness skills and completion of chainsaw safety course an asset o Familiarity with and commitment to workplace safety procedures o Excellent communication skills, ideally in French as well as English Other Requirements: o Hiring is contingent upon receipt of funding and candidates must be eligible for employment under the Canada Summer Jobs Program o The successful candidate will be asked to undergo a police records check Compensation and Hours of Work: $18/hr, 37 hours per week including work on weekends Period of Employment: 28 April – 30 September 2021 Location: Ingleside, South Stormont (in Gallingertown) To Apply: Please email cover letter and CV to info@familyearth.earth by May 6, 2021 For more information, follow the link below... https://www.familyearth.earth/
