Business Address: 311235 16th Line, East Garafraxa, ON L9W 7C6 Work Location: Same as above and at 295680 8th Line Amaranth Ontario L9V 1K5 Type of Employment: Full-time – Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Description: Develop and guide the behaviour of farm animals Develop specific plans to prioritize Diagnose livestock health issues Disinfect pens and barns Handling animals Marking livestock as proof of ownership Monitoring animal health Organize daily tasks to accomplish the work Perform livestock feeding Prepare a clean and dry area for cows Track and report on current feed inventory Treat livestock health issues Feed and tend animals Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, or harvesting, as needed to feed the cattle Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed while performing daily tasks Clean barns, barnyards and pens Perform general farm duties Write daily basic progress reports Occasionally drive a tractor within the farm Requirements Education: Not required. Experience: At least one year of experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided. Work site environment: Beef cattle ranching and farming including feedlots, Outdoors, Dusty, Noisy, Odours, All weather conditions. Weight handling: Maximum 25 lbs. Driver’s license is an asset Work setting: Rural area Equipment experience: Skid steer loader/tractor is an asset. General mechanical skills are an asset. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Combination of sitting, standing, walking, Large workload, Hand-eye co-ordination, Ability to distinguish between colours, Sound discrimination, Standing for extended periods, Bending, crouching, kneeling. Personal Suitability: Team player, Efficient interpersonal skills, Flexibility, Judgement, Reliability, Quick learner. Language: English is an asset Salary: $20.00 per hour. 40 to 50 hours per week. Important Information: Flexibility in the schedule is required. The work schedule consists of a 6-day workweek, with a half-day on Saturday, and alternating weekends off and on. Working hours are from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Saturday shifts are from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Workers will need to work on holidays. Overtime and being on call may be required depending on business needs.
