Business address: 49276 Yale Rd., Chilliwack, BC V2P 6H4 Location of work: 49276 Yale Rd., Chilliwack, BC V2P 6H4 and 5781 Unsworth Rd., BC Chilliwack, BC, V2R 3A3 Type of Employment: Full time - Permanent Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible Job duties: Budding trees Clean the crops Clear and collect brush and debris from fields and other work areas Greenhouse cleaning Harvest seedlings Mixing fertilizer Remove manually all suckers and water sprouts Tie and secure plants Train trees to produce more fruit of higher quality Weeding Spray or dust plants with insecticides and fungicides Assist in pruning trees, shrubs and plants Mix and prepare soils Plant bulbs and seeds Pot and re-pot plants Transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings Apply fertilizers Report signs of insect or disease damage Dig up wrapping rootballs of trees and shrubs Water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens Clean work area Drive work truck to different locations Requirements: -Education: Some high school is required -Experience: Experience is an asset. On-the-job training will be provided. -Driver’s license is required -Experience using chain saw, mechanical sprayer, and light trucks are a strong asset -Must take direction and abide by safety rules -Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment; Work under pressure; Repetitive Tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods, Combination of sitting, standing, walking; Bending, crouching, kneeling, Hand-eye coordination -Personal Suitability: Client focus, Initiative, Accurate, Judgement, Effective interpersonal skills, Team player, Organized, Flexibility -Work Site Environment: Cold/refrigerated, Wet/damp, Hot, Confined spaces, Odours -Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) -Language: Basic level of English is required Wage: $18.75 per hour. 40 – 50 Hours per week Benefits: Accommodation provided at a discounted rate. Travel expenses paid by the employer if worker needs to relocate. Transportation to and from the work location is provided by the employer. A vehicle is provided for work-related matters only. Learning/training paid by the employer. Top of Form Important Information: Regular schedule is from Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. However, flexibility in schedule is required, based on the business’ needs. Overtime is required. Weekend work may be required.
