Farm description

We have a small, market garden farm and sell at two local farmers' markets each week beginning in June and going until October. We sell a diverse range of vegetables, berries, orchard fruit and garlic. We also have Shetland sheep for wool and free-range, heritage hens for eggs. We grow using organic standards but are not certified. We have been selling at markets for 6 years.

Farm opportunity

We are seeking a helper to reside at the farm and to be an intern or apprentice for at least 3 months during the growing season. They will learn how to plant and care for a wide variety of vegetable crops; to harvest for market all vegetables, berries and orchard fruits. They will learn about local pests and diseases of Nova Scotia crops and how to lessen their impacts. Our helper will also learn a lot about sheep and poultry including daily management, hoof trimming, parasite control, handling and so on.
