Farm description

Made with Love incorporates a small scale organically grown urban food forest, an eco culinary guest house and an artisan food company Made with Love Delectable Edibles established in 1999 and licensed in 2001. The Garden Cottage is currently available for long term rent to own or purchase. Made with Love Urban Farm is a 18 year old established mature temperate food forest garden and permaculture collaborative in Brocklehurst, Kamloops, B.C.. We are perhaps the last heritage farm in the city of Kamloops, along the wildlife wetlands across from McArthur Island Park on the old Huxley farmstead in Tkʼemlúps te Secwépemc. We are happy to add new collaborative landmates to our crew all four seasons as things rev up for our value added farm products with goodies box orders through Christmas and New Years. Check out earthmarket and shop online at www.madewithlove.ca Envisioning more energetic, collaborative partners, enthusiastic about culinary permaculture to fully engage and realize home on this land. Building momentum, we see co-creation with filmmakers, organic farmers, natural eco builders, landscape/rock art/arborists, twig builders, hunter/fisher/butcher, farm/chef people/couples with culinary, permaculture food forest, biodynamic and agroecology interest and/or expertise to maximize our tiny urban land project with a focus on farm to table culinary creations and online value added product sales. Additional skill sets in film / video / audio, livestreaming, online marketing, social media, web design, photography, finance, distribution and sales are serious assets. We have some camera / audio equipment for virtual sharing of this eco project, so if you dig photo, video, livestream or social media, bring your skills, equipment, ideas and let's grow this together. Ideal candidates love our earth deeply and feel a sacred obligation to spend this lifetime nourishing vibrant permaculture community, shared eco life, healthy soil, conscious connection and happy healthy people on a happy healthy planet! On our urban farm we utilize hugelkultur and food forest techniques to grow fruit, nuts, berries, mushrooms, squashes, herbs, edible flowers, native indigenous & wild settler botanicals; tea herbs, medicinals, baby salad mix organically and biodynamically on a very small urban footprint. We love experimental projects utilizing waste and recycling or areas not typically dedicated to growing food; like shade gardens, vertical growing and mushrooms. Nearly everything we grow is an ingredient for unique, unusual and premium market products. Sunroots (Jerusalem artichoke), flower fairy salad mix, fairy tea blend, violets, lilac blossoms, spruce tips, tamarack, alehoof, applemint, wild microgreens, salad daisy, motherwort, boreal vanilla, goldenrod, sunflower petals, wild quinoa and other ancient grains, rose petals... we wild craft and grow stone and core fruit for unique herbal teas and fruit preserves. We maximize farm profit with value added agricultural culinary products - flower fairy salads, fruit for baking, drying, teas and preserves, herbs and edible flowers for Spice Blends, teas and dressings. We glean the wild abundance of our local area which was previously orchard land and now has many unpicked unsprayed suburban & "wild" fruit trees. All the food we grow is first shared with community, where we focus on an ethical omnivorous whole food kitchen with tons of raw food, sprouted sourdough bread, home baking, soups from scratch, nutritional healing with bone broth, herbal teas, juicing, sprouting, fermenting, salads and fruit as well as ethically raised local meats, eggs and sprouted grain bread. The excess harvest is frozen, preserved or dried to be used in our value added grocery products for sale locally, at shops and the farmers markets we attend throughout Kamloops / the Shuswap region or in our online store. Made with Love is also a brand of commercial grocery products, sold in large scale grocery stores like Save on Foods or Loblaws in BC and Alberta and smaller retailers across North America. These are all produced in our inspected commercial kitchen with UPC labels and HACCP protocol in place.

Farm opportunity

Want to learn how to incorporate our wild settler and indigenous harvests on daily plates? Do you like to eco clean, upcycle, kintsugi repair, read, make music, swim, hot tub, do yoga or lie naked in the sun, paddle, skateboard, trampoline? Are you a great fixologist? Do you have beautiful handwriting for labels or artistic faerie skills for decorating - the goodies box - with cones, sprigs, berries & forest harvests? We prefer those who want to join us long term, planning and executing next season's growth and culinary adventures, hopefully with a good fit, years forward. We offer 6-12 month hands-on culinary permaculture internships building into 4 year eco business apprenticeships with equity based collaborative micro business partnerships based on your love, passion, experience, personal resources and skill base. A strong focus on permaculture food forest botanicals, growth, harvest, processing and value added product development, with perhaps financial investment in land / property / well established branded artisan food company. Every collaborative visitor sharing this home and land is responsible for a full adult share of life and we start with $25/day collective house share and meal plan plus 25 hrs engaged towards collaboration, maintenance, gardening, cleaning, cooking, harvesting, preserving etc. This primary agreement is revisited in 3-6 months as we learn about one another's engagement in shared eco life. Farm stay guests share a similar responsibility by financial equivalent. Ask us if a different split between energetic time/financial contribution works best for you. You like moderation, diversity and variation in your daily schedule. You have personal investments or work which provides a minimum of personal income; digital nomads fit great here! You are self sufficient, independent and feel a deep desire and obligation to nourish our earth and build community. You want to puzzle together a collective dynamic with a close knit group to build connections, create new avenues of income and construct a beautiful mosaic of daily life activities. LGBTQ2SPN allies, we practice being yoga, active meditation, compassionate communication (NVC) and work hard building authentic relationships. You are learning how to be your authentic self, speak your truth, share your feelings, tell people your needs, ask for what you want, share abundance, learn, grow, play, build, heal and dig deep roots. For the right candidates a successful one year culinary permaculture internship, will grow into a land based micro business partnership over a 4 year eco business apprenticeship. Opportunities exist for personal land investment, mentoring, succession purchase, tiny homes and permanence within our eco project at Made with Love Urban Farm. Some new avenues we foster are: rooting fruit trees, landscaping shrubs, tiny home building, nursery stock and perennial plants, culinary delivery for local restaurants farm to table, market garden, csa, food service, culinary adventure tourism, expanded value-added gourmet artisan food products, organic baking, wholesale grocery, manufacture and distribution, new retail and online sales. Commercial kitchen and irrigation are already in place. Currently digging for a walapini /root cellar. We have main house bedrooms, and furnished farm stay guest rooms: a garden cottage tiny house, a traditional teepee, an eco treehouse and a wattle and daub tiny home building project on our land for visitors, partners and international guests. For the right candidate - we are currently building and mudding the pallet wall mud cob wattle cabin and have plans for growing it into a new hobbit house/cobb/adobe/yurt/earthship treehouse made of sustainable recycled material and other peoples garbage! Shared access to main house community kitchen, great room, living rooms, bathroom, laundry, pool deck and hot tub etc. Our online sales exploded in 2020 with 700% year over year growth. We launched a new chef's box in 2019 and our farm stay guest house in 2016. We are currently establishing ourselves as an eco-culinary destination. We have hosted thousands of guests and hundreds of international volunteers, with a lot of great energy and enthusiasm and are in need of more farm leadership to provide grounding and stable roots. Current projects: deep cleaning, garden prep, juicing, tea, bread, soup & jam-making, labeling; assemble gorgeous goodies boxes for mail orders on Etsy's earthmarket. We grow, harvest, gather, dry & rub herbs, herbal teas, spice blends, make botanical sodas, pick berries & fruit, ferment, freeze, repair, clean, organize, clean guest rooms, change beds, & make 3 Michelin star-worthy whole food farm to table feasts twice daily to WOW our international guests. The food here is amazing! Culinary Abundance, a local ethical omnivorous harvest Made with Love. This is not a cheap life. Every person in our project has already made the choice to invest more time, energy and dollars in healthy wellness choices for our bodies and our earth. Our company motto: Happy healthy people on a happy healthy planet! We function as a collaborative in a shared collective home. All your basic living costs are included in your stay; shared farm table meals and fully stocked whole food kitchen, natural soap, shampoo, toiletries, essential oils, laundry, eco-cleaning products, utilities, house phone, wireless, shared living space, clothing optional pool, hot tub, trampoline, gardens, shared tent or tipi bedroom, bedding included in your collective house share and your gift of time invested in carrying an equitable adult share and co-building a beautiful life together with love. We challenge ourselves and all our visitors to honor and practice... “The Four Agreements 1. Be impeccable with your word. 2. Don’t take anything personally. 3. Don’t make assumptions. 4. Always do your best. ” Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom. All guests are comfortable with natural nudity. Pool patio, hidden faerie forest gardens and hot tub are clothing optional.
