Farm description

Winding Path Organic Farm is located on a 75-acre century old (dairy) farm which was partially converted to include a 4 acre aggregate extraction site in the later 20th century. Through abuse of privilege the previous owner lost his license, nine of us purchased this beautiful piece of land in 2010 and when we purchased the property, we decommissioned the aggregate extraction site. The nine of us have started an intentional community which we call The Living Village. As a group we are committed to sustainable development and regenerative agriculture. This land is truly beautiful, we are located on the Moira river, we have two ponds, woods & many fields which slope southward. This wounded land is being rebuilt and reforested, we are helping it to rejuvenate through green crop and other permaculture principles. To date we have planted over a thousand trees and bushes of a wide variety of species including nut and fruit bearing varieties and many indigenous and threatened species. This year we have 5,000+ trees being planted. As we continue to develop our land use plan and edible forest project we are committed to reforestation and biodiversity. In 2019 we continued to expand the market garden and our line of processed foods. We produce a full range of soups, chutneys, jams, ferments and meals in a jar. One of our main goals is to give Ontario residents the opportunity to eat Ontario grown food 12 months a year. The main ingredients are grown by us and currently the only limit on our opportunities is the physical resources to plant, harvest and process more food.

Farm opportunity

Winding Path Organic Farm is one means to provide business opportunities for today and into the future. Which brings us to the opportunity, Sue and I are looking for potential partners in either our food processing business, the farm business or both. Sweat equity and positive attitude are every bit as important to us as capitol (maybe even more so). We are also open to a labour exchange relationship. If any of the above is interesting to you please feel free to get in touch with us and we can talk a bit more about our current and future plans and if you have ideas maybe we can incorporate some of them.
