Farm description
Our 100 acre farmstead on Manitoulin Island has been a work in progress for the past five years. We’ve made some pretty decent headway, fencing the land, planting trees, raising animals, putting up infrastructure etc., but it hasn’t been particularly fast. We’ve learned a lot and come a long way, but there’s only so much we can do with limited hands. We want this place to become a thriving, resilient farm with abundant food, healthy soil, and a strong community. The vision is there, and the groundwork is started, but we need someone who has the skills, knowledge, and drive to help bring it to life. We’re working toward food forests, regenerative grazing, and a productive farmstead, but we’re not there yet. If you have the experience (or the determination) to help make it happen, let us know!
Farm opportunity
We are offering a long-term lease (extremely low cost, like $100/year), business agreement, MOU or even paid employment, whichever fits best, to someone who wants to live here, build their future on the land, and work alongside us to create something lasting. The leaseholder will have the space to run their own farm business while also helping to develop the larger vision of a productive, regenerative farm. What’s available: Infrastructure: Tiny home, RV, pole barn, farm equipment, fenced acreage, pond, greenhouse (in progress) Livestock: Chickens, ducks, Mangalitsa pigs Perennial Crops (in progress): Hundreds of apple trees, plus pears, plums, peaches, serviceberries, currants, gooseberries, raspberries, strawberries, sunchokes, rhubarb, and more Wild Forage: Ramps, maples for syrup, and more Amenities: Lake access on property, close to hospital, groceries, arena, school This is for someone who is serious about making a long-term home here, not just take on a seasonal project. A farmer or homesteader who doesn’t have the cash to outlay on their own property, but aches to create something beautiful and abundant for themselves and their community. If you’re looking for land, community, and a chance to create something meaningful, get in touch :)
