Overview
Hi, I have been working in accounting and finance, since 2009. Before that, I was helping my family run sugar-cane farm co-operatives and subsistence rural living in South Africa. I have a lived experience of the ups and downs that is involved in farming and raising livestock. I would like to work with a seasoned Canadian farmer for a period of ~5 years to learn the basics of this market and climate while raising capital to eventually own the land and related assets.

Alone (with part time help of my husband)
Farm Vision
Year 1 leased 1-2 acres - 1/4 acre dedicated to herbs and soft greens, use the rest of the land on experimenting with other international herbs not widely planted in Canada Year 2 expand on successful herbs to about 1 acre each. Extensive research and networking on off-take markets, certifications etc. Year 3 may consider property nearby or on the farm to rent. Add small batch of ruminant animals (e.g. goat) Year 4-year 5: Explore financing options to support scaling and eventual acquisition of the bigger farm and related assets
Relationship with Farm Owner
Preferably that of a teacher and student/future caretaker. That relationship warrants a premium on the sale price if the farm owner were to sell to me, though I consider it to be priceless.
