Overview

Hello! My wife and I are looking to expand into farming full-time. We are hard working, adaptable, and easily contented. We are Christians and thus go to Church on Sundays, though we also know emergencies on farm can come up any time and so we have flexibility for things like that. We have been using a friend's land and would love some land of our own in Alberta. Lease-to-own would be great, some mentorship if the owner was willing. We're flexible though. We started a smaller "farm" with some laying hens, meat turkeys, and some berry varieties (selling the plants). My wife also sells her baking. We both grew up in rural Canada but neither of us on farms of our own.

Experience

We've been running a small enterprise on a friends land. We have laying hens, meat turkeys, and some fruit/veg plants. We sell at a local farmer's market and from the farm directly. We have additional skills in marketing that have proved very helpful.

Partner(s)

Just my wife and I. We're in our early 30s. My brother would be happy to help anytime too. We have one son, but he is no longer with us. We are hoping to build a family so might have some youngsters running around in a few years should the Lord see fit to bless us that way.

Farm Vision

We are more community-farm oriented and desire to use as little chemicals as possible. We want to produce healthy meats and some fruits/veg locally in a way that our local community can have great food security and access to healthy whole foods. We don't love buying food grown in other continents and countries and are trying to provide people with local options.

Relationship with Farm Owner

We'd love to build a mentor/mentee relationship if the owner was willing. There is a lot we don't know, so any shared knowledge is very helpful. If the owner prefers a more hands-off approach, we can do that too. We want to build a mutual trusting relationship and have the owner know their land is in good, capable hands. A family, feel is always nice too, but we understand not everyone is looking for that. We're easy.
