Overview
I am developing my first independent ecological microfarm in Ontario, building on years of experience helping manage small-scale farm production and livestock in Cuba. My family continues to operate land there where we raise cattle and horses, which taught me hands-on animal care, planning, and the importance of working in harmony with nature. My Ontario project focuses on specialty cut flowers, edible flowers, microgreens, herbs, and a rainbow-egg poultry program (hens + quails). My long-term vision is to build a regenerative, high-value farm that blends beauty, food, and community while contributing to local markets and chefs. I am looking to lease 1–2 acres (or more with time), preferably on an ecological, organic, or small-farm setting where good communication and respect for the land are shared values.
Experience
I bring some years of small business management and creative product development experience. I have managed local produce distribution, organized small-scale retail operations, and developed eco-inspired product lines that connect beauty, nature, and wellness. My background includes experience with ornamental and edible plants, basic horticultural practices, and an understanding of how to integrate production with value-added sales. These skills support my goal of building a sustainable, community-oriented microfarm that blends productivity with artistry and environmental care.
Partner(s)
I will primarily farm on my own, with regular help from my partner, who has experience in construction, equipment setup, and property maintenance. This support allows me to focus on plant and animal care while he manages physical infrastructure. As production expands, I plan to bring on help for planting, harvesting, and daily operations, creating a balanced, efficient, and supportive workflow.
Farm Vision
My vision is to create a small ecological farm that celebrates harmony between people and nature. The project will include edible flowers, herbs, microgreens, and vegetables, alongside free-range poultry raised in a respectful and low-impact system. Every area of the farm will serve both function and beauty , producing food that nourishes body and spirit. Over time, this pilot project will evolve into a self-sustaining model that inspires others to reconnect with the land and demonstrates how creativity and ecology can thrive together.
Relationship with Farm Owner
I value honesty, clear communication, and mutual respect in any working relationship. I hope to build a collaborative and transparent partnership where both sides share enthusiasm for the farm’s success. I believe in caring for the land as if it were my own and maintaining an open dialogue about progress, challenges, and opportunities. Ideally, this relationship will grow into long-term trust and shared pride in what we create together, a thriving, beautiful, and sustainable farm.
